Hills to Ocean
An empty stretch of sand on the south coast with a single fishing boat at first light

Beach Beach Beach!

The coast, and not much else

The traveller

The one who came for the sea

You are not here for the ruins. You want warm water, a stretch of sand that is not shoulder to shoulder, somewhere to eat fish within walking distance, and the option of doing absolutely nothing for four days running. The only real decision is which coast, and that is entirely a question of when you are coming: the south runs December to April, the east runs May to September, and getting it wrong means a week of rough grey sea.

What people come for

  • Warm, swimmable water and time in it
  • Short transfers and long stays
  • Sunsets, seafood and a walkable strip
  • Optional surf without building the trip around it

And who it is not for

  • Travellers who want the cultural sites as well; that is a different trip and we have several
  • Anyone whose dates fall in the wrong monsoon for the coast they had in mind, unless they are willing to switch coasts

Trips

  • Good
  • Mixed
